Scrap the cap
Earlier this year, your local BMA reps found that London-based junior doctors were taking up posts outside of the Capital to plug locum rota gaps as they would receive better rates of pay. The BMA have raised the issue of poor locum pay rates in London with NHS England. While they promised to raise it with local medical directors, we've seen little progress. Action is long overdue.
Doctors deserve answers! Why are locum rates in London trusts so low? How detrimental is this to patient care, with members who are still at London trusts working in unsafe staffed areas? And when will this be addressed?
The BMA are campaigning to put pressure on London Trusts to change this. Email your Trust's CEO to:
- Request the removal of the London Pay Cap for junior doctor locum pay rates within your Trust
- Establish sensible, transparent and fairly implemented escalation protocols
Following the successful uptake of the campaign in North West London, we are now focussing on Trusts across all of London. If you are not based in London, please pass this page on to your reps and locum networks to email the CEO today.
It's time they scrapped the cap. Fill in your details and press next to send your letter.
